Super ALT - Kisarazu City, Chiba Prefecture

in ALT/English Teaching

Our company seeks an experienced native English teacher for the position of Super ALT in Kisarazu City. The position starts from April 5th, 2013 and continues until March 24th, 2014.

Kisarazu is a small city located 40 minutes south of Chiba City. It is quiet and peaceful, but there is an Aeon Shopping Mall and a home center, as well as other small stores. It's a 2 hour commute to Tokyo. The Uchibo train line has about 2 or 3 trains every hour. Walking distance to the schools can range from 10 to 45 minutes, so it may be necessary to take a bus or drive.

Obviously from the title, this is not a regular ALT position. The Super ALT will have many more responsibilities than the other ALTs working in the Kisarazu area. The position is Monday-Friday 8:15-4:00 [sometimes 8:30-4:15], paid at a monthly rate of 240,000yen + 10,000yen for transportation. August and December are paid at reduced monthly salaries due to the long school vacations.

Super ALT Responsibilities:
- Teach at one main Jr. High School about 3 days a week
- Teach at 2 Elementary Schools twice a week (1 school - 1 day)
- Visit 18 different Elementary Schools throughout the school year to observe other ALTs' classes
- Observe other ALTs' classes and provide feedback
- Hold a training session for Japanese public school teachers
- Do translating, create lesson materials, and conduct special classes at the local learning center
- Attend and lead monthly ALT meetings by providing various topics, demonstrations and giving advice to other ALTs

Requirements:
- must be a native English speaker (from USA/UK/Australia/New Zealand/Canada/Ireland)
- at least 3 years of English teaching experience (preferably as an ALT, but private or eikaiwa experience is fine)
- must be able to drive in Japan
- high intermediate or low advanced Japanese ability
- a friendly and engaging personality is key, not only when teaching young children, but also for giving constructive criticism to ALTs
*IMPORTANT* Candidates should either be living in Kisarazu or willing to relocate to the city!

If you feel that you would be a good match for this position, please email your resume and a current photo. We will contact qualified candidates to get the application process started immediately. Thank you!
